One of the most wonderful things about a Sweet Amaranth adventure session is that since we have a full day, we get a chance to take photos in really amazing locations around the Pacific Northwest.
For Ms. G’s adventure session, we headed out to Lake Cushman, a gorgeous lake in the Olympic Mountains that offers easy-to-access forests, river and lake shore. (This would also be a great setting for anyone with mobility limitations, as most of the places we used are right next to parking lots.)
Another wonderful thing is that we really get a chance to dig in deep and explore you, what makes you tick and what makes you happy.
We took advantage of the day to do lots of different shots in different settings, but Ms. G’s passion is clearly yoga, so we made sure to spend some time with her mat out. (In fact, we stopped by a different state park on our way and took photos on TWO scenic shores!)
While we were out shooting that day, we had a really interesting discussion about how we see our own bodies versus how others see us. As the child of two heritages, American and Chinese, Ms. G sometimes feels like she can’t measure up to the beauty standards of either culture. I think capturing these images helped her a bit in seeing that her own blend of features is beautiful, too.
In her words:
“It look my breath away. For once. I did not look at it critically and tear myself down. I actually saw a little of what you see through your camera lens”
“Lindley is an amazingly talent photographer. Her fun, sunny disposition puts you completely at ease.”
“You HAVE to meet Lindley, she is the BEST photographer in the world. She is super talented and makes you feel beautiful and totally at ease. She is AMAZING.”
Since our session, Ms. G has decided to pursue yoga teacher training. I’m so thrilled for you, darling!
